BESPOKE
Lately the
term “bespoke” has been in the news when discussing travel. It looks as if many
travelers are looking for more than the usual, “same, same” offerings presented
to them. Sophisticated tourists want new venues, new destinations and unusual
features not cut from the same old patterns; and they are willing to pay for
it.
The news is
good for Visit America Inc., we have been offering and operating “bespoke”
tours for the past 34 years! As a small but well connected company we always had
to be more creative and could not re-hash old ideas over and over again. Our
proposals are always custom-made and not “one-off’s” of a tour series or an old
program. So, we are happy that the world caught up with us: On with “bespoke”
tours!
While in
the traditional term, “bespoke” (a specific length of cloth that has “been
spoken for”), may not literally apply to travel, the concept does. “Bespoke”
means creating tours for yours and your clients’ specific and personal requirements
and not just “made to measure” travel arrangements using pre-existing templates
of tours, adjusted to your individual needs.
We offer a
stroll through the magnificent “Wave Hill” gardens, overlooking the Hudson River
in New York City and not just a visit to the “Empire State Building”; we offer
Jazz at “Smoke” or “Parlor Entertainment” and not only at “Blue Note” plus thousands
of other unusual and not too touristic venues and destinations.
Ask us for
your “bespoke” tour proposal. You will see the difference!

*Bespoke a British
English term for tailored clothing made at a customer's behest, and exactly to
the customer's specification. Bespoke clothing is created without use of a
pre-existing pattern, differentiating it from made to measure, which alters a
standard-sized pattern to fit the customer. Today it is also frequently used for
technical components specifically developed for a certain application, as well
as in the automotive industry, when customers get a chance to have an
automobile equipped to their specification
