NEW YORK! NEW YORK!
“Been
there, done that!” We hear that once in a while, when suggesting extra days in New York.
Your
clients may have been to New York
10 times but they have hardly scratched the surface of the “done that” part.
New York
is such a diverse and multi-faceted town that even locals are unable to keep up
with the ever changing attractions, sights and activities this metropolis
offers. Here is just a small selection of new or unusual things to do, to
see, to experience and to enjoy in New
York City:
Shopping: From the hottest computer
stores, with their ever changing and improving equipment, the trendiest
“sneakers” boutiques with the latest hip styles to the lowly kitchen supply
store with the largest collection of chef’s knives New York has it all. New York and its 5
boroughs have more stores of everything from stylish to ethnic. Cairo may have more Middle-Eastern stores but New York has in addition
to these also Icelandic, Tibetan, Armenian and Native-American stores. Ask
us about directions and we will get you shopping!
Green
Spaces: Most
visitors come to New York
for the skyscrapers, but an expanse of green is soothing to the eye and mind!
So, enjoy New York’s
green side! Everyone knows Central Park in Manhattan
and Prospect Park
in Brooklyn; most know about the New York
Botanical Garden and the Zoo in the
Bronx; some may know about the Brooklyn
Botanical Garden with its world class
“Bonsai” collection and formal Japanese
Garden. How many visitors
know about the 13 public Golf links, open to all, the serenity of the huge,
park-like Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx and Green-Wood
Cemetery in Brooklyn,
with their many sculptures, mausoleums, ponds and rolling hills? These resting
places, of some of the most memorable figures of New York, often come alive on weekends with
performance and music. If you are looking for more “green”, there is a
working (on 47acres) Farm Museum in Queens that can be visited or you can
stroll through one of 45 Greenmarkets in the 5 boroughs, selling farm-fresh
produce trucked into town by small producers.
Hip-Hop
to Burlesque: What
other city can offer you high class Hip-Hop tours with visits to artists,
studios and clubs while riding in a stretch Hummer? There are many Jazz clubs
to visit, featuring anything from Blues to Cool, or
your clients can have a good time at a club with Brazilian or Latin
music. The scene keeps changing every season with new and different Dance
clubs, Karaoke or “Sing-along” rooms, Cabarets or Burlesque shows. We will
match the venue with the taste of the visitor. Naturally we can also
obtain the “usual”. Tickets to Broadway shows, concerts and opera or
tickets for all sports: NY Mets, NY Yankees, NY Rangers, NY Knicks,
NY Jets or NY Giants.
Here you
have it: Some, not “run of the mill” things to do or see in New York City.
Wishing you
a wonderful holiday season and a happy new year,
