A nice way
to get the feel of a country, to meet its citizens and experience it to it’s
fullest, is to walk across it. This is easy and manageable when one thinks of
Monaco, a little more complicated and extensive if planning to walk across
North America. But, one doesn’t have to
do it all in one shot. There are untold
short, medium and long hikes, strolls or walks feasible all over our continent.
One can
hike along the eastern Appalachians from Maine to Georgia or stroll on a
leisurely walk through Greenwich Village or Brooklyn in New York City. The Appalachian Trail even extends all the
way north to Newfoundland in Canada. There are hundreds of trails on old,
former railroad tracks, offering a not too strenuous walk through many states
in the USA. There are thousands of longer or shorter walks and hikes in all the
National, Provincial or State Parks in North America that are maintained by
local groups. There are countless walks, with many different aims and interests
in most cities of North America.
Next time
you plan a meeting, conference or incentive to North America and need to add
some “nature activity”, some “down
time” (health and fitness activity or rejuvenating activity), think of walks,
strolls or hikes.
For $25 per
person we can arrange an “Art Walk”, a “History Walk” or an “Architecture Walk”
in New York City or a visit to the “Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge” in
New Jersey. There are1800 hectares of swamp, woodlands and marshes 40km from
New York City.
