Your clients plan a meeting, an incentive
trip or simply a visit to New York City.
As a DMC and tour operator for foreign
visitors, we are used to suggesting and planning programs as creative as the
client wishes and as elaborate as the budget permits. After having proposed the
desired program, a client sometimes wishes to end the visit to New York with
something really special.
So, what is the appropriate finale to a fine
stay in New York City?
The last event at the end of a
well-organized visit should be an especially memorable one. With our 30 years
experience in catering to visitors to New York City, we have many fine,
impressive and memorable excursions and venues to top off such a trip to New
York. One excursion that we feel is exceptional and always successful, is a visit
to the wineries on Long Island, crowned with a seafood feast. Ideally, this
should be a full day tour and should include the following:
Crossing the East River to reach Queens, and
on east through the vast suburbs surrounding this great City, you finally reach
the greener pastures of Suffolk County. At 100km east of New York, where the
urban sprawl has not reached yet, you arrive in Riverhead, the divide between
North- and South Fork of Long Island.
On the more bucolic North Fork you will
visit 3-4 wineries to sample the excellent white and red wines. Since the soil
and climatic conditions here are similar to some Bordeaux regions, Long Island
wines have a similar taste but are a little more “country style”. A visit to
Greenport, an old waling seaport on Gardiners Bay, will give you a chance to
experience a small seaside town now catering to week-end and summer tourists.
Back through the vineyards and farm fields of the North Fork you turn south to
reach the South Fork and the elegant Southampton. One of the resort towns
strung along the Atlantic coast of Long Island: Montauk, East Hampton,
Southampton, Westhampton and all the other places in-between. Near Southampton,
dockside, you will stop for an exquisite seafood meal. Depending on the budget
your platter can include lobster, shrimps, flounder,
clams, mussels, scallops and other
delicacies. After the meal tour the area with its fancy estates and
summerhouses. Setting some time aside for strolling in the center of
Southampton before returning to your hotel in Manhattan or ending the excursion
at the airport for your flight home!
This tour is operated by a 47-seater bus and
includes a lunch with lobster and a glass of beer or wine and costs US$ 75 per
person if the bus is filled.
